Frontlines is a brand new first person shooter & tactical team strategy game has offically been released as of today (29th of March 2008), Its been out on the XBox and PS3 for a while but they’ve finally released the PC version for us game-a-holics to thrust upon! Saying that its orginall a console game this game looks absolutly brilliant and I know the team here at DG will play and love this game.
From the looks of this title it has the feel and game play of the battlefield 2 & 2142 series’s but it also like BF it includes its own ranking system making it worth while in playing. The online game play is capped to a 64 player max per server hopefully the latency not to much of a problem for those of you running low ends systems.
The actual game itself is based on the UT3 engine, you get amazingly great graphics and effects from the guys over at Epic who developed the UT3 Engine so there is nothing there to moan about!
The thing that has caught my attention as it has with some of the guys here is the remote controlled RC style features. You can navigate and tactically use Drones in the game. From the features I have seen there is a Bomb defusal style RC Robot and a Helicopter, These both will add alot of skill and direction to the game. Last time i few a chopper in a game it didnt end very pretty (RC Stunt Coppter! for the Playstion) … Yes i crashed it a fair few times!
Anyways. I’ve added the GC 2007 Trialer video of the game below so you can get a feel for the game. Its by far one of the best titles i’ve yet seen this year so lets hope it stays that way and keeps its place in our own gaming collections!
There has also been alot of talk of this game in our forums so you may want to pop on over and take a look at what the guys and girls are all saying!

Note: you may want to wait for “the first patch” as there is already problems with the MP side of the game. I’ve already experienced issues with the in game browser, trying to leave mounted guns, including vehicles. There is also issues with unmanned aircraft.
I’ve reported several of the in game browser issues, like pings not showing up and error messages when trying to log on to a server, in the Frontlines forums.
While the game is still fun and “tolerable” some may not like the fact that there are numerous issues.
With all that said, I’m having a blast with it once I get into a server. I also stay away from most mounted guns for now .

Kaos Studios has just announced the release of the 1.0.1 patch for Frontlines: Fuel of War. See the post below:
We’ve released a patch to address the issues listed later in this post.
To upgrade to the newest patch, make sure you are picking the correct version of the game.
If you pick the patch for the wrong region you may have to reinstall the entire game!
NOTE: TryMedia and Steam users must visit the vendor for the appropriate patch. We will leave a few 1.0.0 servers up until they have the patch available.
To download the patch, visit http://www.kaosstudios.com/ffow-patches/
We are in the process of bringing up more 1.0.1 servers and will be monitoring their performance.
This patch does not fix the SecuROM and Vista issues. We are working around the clock to addresses these and we will update you as soon as possible.

Totally, but in all fairness its a complicated game, and they’ve not taken half the time it took EA to bring BF2 out!
Although in saying that, the game is a massive 9Gig! I wonder what the hell the’ve stuck in it to make it that big!!!

> So you guys already got this game then?
